The lady doth protest too much, and frankly I'm tired of listening to the excuses. TWD has wallowed in this plot, taking it's time to do . . . what? Defeat Negan? Alexandria's hands are tied. Hilltop couldn't protect themselves when zombies got into their giant wall and hid behind a pregnant woman. The Kingdom is running a long-game, simultaneously covering their backsides and undermining the Saviors' food supply. Oceanside may have a role to play at some point, but for now are the fringe weirdos. The production has spent weeks showing us it's fruitless to attempt war with Negan. The only way out is submission or death. But they haven't written it in a way which allows a natural progression to the point where it's feasible for the underdogs to mount a Hail Mary win. They've written Rick and company into a literal corner. The only ideas they come up with to overcome this completely avoidable problem make no sense, yet somehow end up the only interesting moment in fifty minutes of talking head theatre.
